"Rather than love, than money than fame, give me truth." This quote would inspire young individuals today because this quote has a rather obvious meaning. This quote says that happiness and success is based of the truths rather than the material items that many people think make them happy but in all reality, money and fame will not keep a person happy for the rest of their lives, there will always be something missing from their lives. The truth will bring many people together because they none have anything to hide, therefore more people get along and stand by one another.

"It's not the length of life, but the depth"~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.I choice this quot because it specks to me. It has such a powerful meaning behind it. You wake up everyday starting a new adventure, but it's what the adventure is to make the day. Life goes by so fast yet it's s short. Nobody can every finish everything that they want to accomplish in this time on earth. There is so much to look forward too but we all get distracted. Life is all about what you accomplish and how you spend you life. It's not necessary and bout material thing rather then feelings and emotions. Life is like a yarn eventually it runs out, some are longer then others but that's why you have to take some risk. Go out and have adventures make impulsive decisions. It's how much you do and accomplish to tell your life story, how would you want your story to be told?

"It is not the length of life, but the depth." - Emerson. This gives a ton of meaning for young person in today society. The meaning of the quote tells us that it isn't about how long you live, but about how much of your life you lived. It means how much you learned, loved, seen, laughed, cried, and tons of other things. Many people have many different stories and ways they lived there life to the fullest and everyone of them is unique to them and to us. This quote also helps us give an idea on what Chris mindset was. He wanted to see the world, be free, and separated from society. And this showed that he didn't live his life to length but he surely lived it to depth.

"The closer you get to real matter, rock, air, fire and wood, boy, the more spiritual the world is." Kerouac. I believe that this quote would most definitely inspire young people today. I believe this because it encourages the exploration of the world, which is something today's children struggle with. The quote implies that one will be more connected with the world the closer they get to nature. The wilderness can provide an escape from today's technology riddled society, and with the amount of technology in use increasing every day, children may need this getaway. This quote also mentions "real matter", suggesting that technology and artificial matter can't provide the same spiritual connection to the world.

"How can one be well...when one suffers morally?"- Leo Tolstoy
This quote would inspire the younger generation to go down a path of good morality, so they can live a healthy, and happier life. The younger people nowadays are more rambunctious and more trouble making than other generations. So they would need some inspiration, and some guidance to help lead them down a better path, which would help them live better than other people who do not have good morals. Both their physical and mental health would be affected by this guidance because they would feel good when they are doing the right thing, and they would try to look more presentable and look more healthy than they would if they did not have the morality to care about their appearance.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” This quote made by Ralph Waldo Emerson was a very deep one to make, it means that even when the world changes around you from the people to the season that you remain yourself and don’t change your behavior because of a trend or fad. So, this does apply to the generation today because trends are a big thing in modern society today and can change the mindsets of millions of people all in the world of social media which it takes one person to flaunt an excessive amount of money or show of something that people are interested in to get them hooked to wanting to become or do that. This changes a person’s perspectives to something completely different to match what they saw.

The quote "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" by Ralph Waldo Emerson could be a quote that still resonates strongly with youth today. Whether it's parents mapping out an entire life for their child that they are expected to follow or societal pressure for things such as marriage, children of their own, college, etc, today's youth can feel very overwhelmed trying to balance who they are with how everyone expects them to be. There are those who choose to conform to all the pressures put on them and lose themselves, while others resist and strive to be their true, authentic self, doing the things they want to do and hitting certain milestones on their own time or not at all. The quote is saying that those who strive to be their own person despite all of these expectations will lead a happier, more rewarding life. This idea conveyed in the quote would encourage more of today's kids to do what they want and only what they want, and don't listen to the voices around them trying to control them.

From the book "War and Peace", Leo Tolstoy said, "We can know only that we know nothing. And that is the highest degree of human wisdom." I believe it translates into saying that, no matter the knowledge that you acquire, you still don't know anything compared to all the knowledge that you could potentially learn. This quote could inspire young people to continuously learn and find more knowledge about anything. It could also inspire people to discover new things that nobody else has discovered yet.

"It is not the length of life, but the depth."~Henry David Thoreau
This quote has several meanings it is saying it doesnt matter how long your life is but it is what you get out of it. This relates to Chris for several reasons. The main reason is he dropped everything that he has ever had, to go out and let himself be happy exploring. Chris isnt afraid of dying and is out living life getting the most out of it. I can also relate to the quote because I am always out to have a good time and make memories. For an example of a memory that I will never forget is when my buddies and I were down at barkley lake and climbed a 150 plus foot cliff just be be able to watch the sun set then after when we were leaving we jumped off in to the water. Life isnt about what you have or how much money you have it is about the memories and the laughs that you have. Those are the things that will never go away. So what the quote means is you have to live your best life and not worry what the next day holds in store you have to live for present and nothing more.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." I think this is still inspiring to the young people because a large group of them do what society wants them to do. Most young kids don't do what they want because they want society to accept them. They are too scared to go off and do their own thing for reasons like; what if it doesn't work out. Even if it doesn't work out they need to keep trying and keep pushing to do what they want for themselves. Everybody wants the people around them to accept them into society and not make fun of them. For those reasons the kids won't go out and do the stuff they've wanted to do simply because it doesn't fit in with how society is today. This quote is saying that if you can break free from the people who are controlling you or holding you down then you could be someone great and do amazing things with your life that others may not be able to do with their lives. The young kids in society could really change their thoughts and outlook of life if they didn't do the norm.

This quote would still be inspirational to today's youth. Through the past few generations in America, our newer generations have constantly grown less connected to the world around them. Their faith in everything from religion, to the government, to society as a whole has dwindled significantly. Through this quote, youths can find a sense of urgency. This urgency is pushing for freedom and to break away from the chains of an apathetic world and find something to believe in.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote can be related to how Chris is feeling in the book. He is doing what he feels is best for himself and pursuing his dreams by going out into the wild. He ignores what other people say and what they think is best for him. He really finds himself and follows the path he feels will make him a better and happier person. This quote also relates to society today because everyone is so focused on what other people think of them and living up to other people's standards. When someone truly finds themselves and no longer cares what anyone thinks about them, they are able to thrive and live life to it's fullest. People today live through social media and are influenced by the actions of others, which makes it hard to find someone that is truly content with being their self. In conclusion, it truly is the greatest accomplishment when a human is able to be and feel like their self in a world that is trying to make them someone else.

¨Do not go here the path may lead, go instead where there is no trial and leave a path.¨ -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Emerson´s quote here is trying to tell people not to follow the path most traveled by. Rather, make a new path and leave a trail. Be the inspiration for others. Young people today are very prone to following along with what everyone else is doing, so this quote could inspire today´s youth to reach out and try to go a way that no one else has gone. Emerson is trying to inspire youth, and readers in general, to do what they can do what they want to do even if it isn´t what everyone else is doing.

The quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson "It is not the length of life, but the depth" could inspire young people today by telling them to live there life to the fullest and to not have any regrets. Do all that you can while you can, and take some risk in life, you only live once. The length of your life is not as important as the depth of your life. Do what makes you happy and what allows you to have as much fun as you can, take some risk, and don't spend your time worrying or stressing over the little stuff.

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and Leave a trail" This quote would inspire young people today and maybe even change the some people live. It is very important to lead and set an example for your peers even if no one else is doing. Young kids typically "follow" or repeat actions they have seen to try and be cool. However though, if the kids would make their own path and life and not follow others down that same bad rode, it could have a great impact on the kid and could change his life around for the better. For example, if your family doesn't believe in getting job and just does bad things all the time, then get a job and prove them wrong by having fun and making money. If young kids don't get off the wrong path though before they are adults, then there is a very good chance that they will never find the right path for them.

This quote can still inspire young people today because in this modern era people strive to fit in or be popular. Many people buy clothes, jewelry, and electronics based upon how other people may view them instead of their own viewpoints. The modern world is a competition of social status. If you can be yourself and follow your own path and ideas then it is a great accomplishment. The ability to break away from society and go your own route is something that is very hard for the everyday person to do. Not many people can nor want to achieve this. However, it's best to be your own person and do things the way you want to and not how others want you to.

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where is no path and leave a trail." (Emerson) This can inspire young age because in this quote it is telling you not to follow the paths that others are telling you to follow, but instead make your own path and leave a trail so others follow you. It also relates to the younger generation because it is telling you to be yourself chose your own way and not follow what other people are telling you to do. Make your own choices and let that lead the life that is being lived by you. With this being said don't follow the crowed, but instead be yourself, it is okay to be different.

The quote that stuck out to me was "The closer you get to real matter, rock air fire and wood, boy, the more spiritual the world is." I believe this quote is trying to convey the idea there's more in this world than someone's regular life. This applies to Chris because he was longing for some type of adventure, something new. This quote may help the youth of today by getting them to go outside and play with the neighbors or go fishing at a community pond. I feel like the children of our community are going to feel more challenged by how many followers they have on Twitter rather than who's backyard is everyone going to play hide and seek in, and this quote is in direct relation with that statement.

The quote that still inspires young people today is "How can one be well...when one suffers morally?" How this quote inspires is that people can say they don't care, but in the back of their mind they do. People do questionable things in their life that they tend to think they can just ignore. Inside that rips you to shreds. Forgiveness is what the people seek it's why those get into religion begging a God to forgive them for all they have done wrong. Especially as time gets shorter they get desparate.
Young adults are always taught at a young age to treat others how you want to be treated. As they get older they are told just how cruel the real world is. Also being told to be kind. Doing kind things go a long way. It leads to friendships, relationships, and happiness. On the other hand doing unkind things will lead to a lack of. Nobody wants to be around those who lack morals. They don't want to be around someone who is rude or does questionable actions. No one wants to hang around someone who makes them feel like dirt. Leading those who suffer morally alone.

This quote is one that is an inspiration mainly to me, and I am not sure if anyone else feels the same way. I feel it mainly in that everyone seems to want me to go to medical school and become a doctor, or go be a lawyer, or whatever. While I know they mean well, being told to go do this or "go do that", when it isn't something I want to be, is frustrating to the extreme. In addition to that, people are still pushing me toward going to do things that I don't want to do.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote inspired young people back then and can still inspire this generation today. Emerson uses this quote to explain that there are so many influences, good and bad, in the world that it can be hard to be true to yourself and live like yourself. It also explains how rewarding it can be for people to be true to themselves through life and why Emerson states that as "the greatest accomplishment." Lastly, this especially inspired Chris in a sense that he didn't like society trying to make him into a person he didn't want to be.
The quote that stand alone would be from Jack Kerouac in The Dharma Bums. "Colleges being nothing but grooming schools for the middle-class non-identity which usually finds its perfect expression on the outskirts of the campus in rows of well-to-do houses with lawns and television sets in each living room with everybody looking at the same thing and think the same thing at the same time while the Japhies of the world go prowling in to hear the voice crying in the wilderness, to find the ecstacy of the stars, to find the dark mysterious secret of the origin of faceless wonderless crapulous civilization." Jack is talking about how everybody has there life almost planned out for them and he wants us to break that mold and go out and have our own adventure.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote is something that will always be inspiring no matter what age you are, but specifically to the young people. In This day in age children are groomed by the interment and those around them to act a certain way so they fit into the crowd. These children hide behind a fraudulent persona to try and fool the world into thinking they are something they truly are not. If these children were to hear is quote aloud or read it themselves I feel it would just go in one ear and out the other as they don't want people to know they are not being their true self. It is sad to see all these young people not living their true self because they are trying to impress other, if they were to grow up with this quote in mind they might feel more comfortable with being themselves.

This quote can still inspire young people today because of all the corruption in today's society. It can be used as a reminder to always go after what you think is morally right even if it displeases other people. Our worlds biggest leaders are corrupt and do things out of greed and for wealth, some don't think about the greater good of other people. In the book, Into the Wild, Chris correlates to this quote because Chris makes his choices based off of what is morally correct and not what other people want.
