I think all athletes should be required to stand because it shows respect and love for people fighting for this country and people living in this country. It is okay to protest but maybe the opening ceremony wasn't a good place to protest. The ones who took a knee should be punished
I think that athletes should have to stand for social events , it's a respect for you're country. There are people that fight so you can have the freedom to play the sport that you're playing. Sitting down or kneeling , yes it shows you're strong for what you're protesting for , but it's also you earning a lot of shame for you're country.
I feel like athletes should respect their job and listen to what their bosses say but, I also think that if it comes down to taking a knee or standing they should be able to do what they want because you are your own person and no body else. you should be able to choose if you want to run, skip, jump, take a knee or even stand.
Athletes shouldn't have very many boundaries while taking a stand for social issues. They aren't disrespecting the flag by burning it or urinating on it. They are practicing their right that soldiers fought for. They aren't being disrespectful by kneeling. They could be doing far worse things. According to the article, Kaepernick had sat during the anthem but he chose to be respectful and kneel.
In the article, "Take a Knee", Colin Kaepernick protests about the social injustice by taking a knee during the National Anthem. The boundaries that should be allowed should be standing, taking a knee, or not putting your hand across your heart. Kaepernick stated in an interview, " And when there's a significant change and I feel like the flag represents what it's supposed to represent and this country is representing people the way that it's supposed to, I'll sand."
Kneeling during the National Anthem is a sign of pure disrespect. There are many other ways Kaepernick and other players could of protested. "Kaepernick sparked controversy when he sat, then knelt, during the National anthem" which to me and a lot of people he should not of done. Kaepernick is now a free agent and no one has signed him because of his actions. He would have no place on my team if he played for me. Men and Women fight for our freedom and he disrespected everyone in different country's and here protecting him.
The boundaries that athletes should take on their stand for social issues are thinking what the outcome is going to be before you do something. Colin Kaprenick, was a NFL Quarter back for the San Francisco 49's started a movement for black lives matter by not standing for the pledge of allegiance. This attacked America as a whole, some believing in what he did and a lot not believing in what he did. Although I do not believe in what he did because he didn't stand for the national anthem that our soldiers proudly fought for. I think that if you wanted to protest the national anthem, stand for it but raise an arm up in the air to show that you're protesting the national anthem not disrespect our soldiers and our flag.
Kaepernick is not wrong for standing for what he believes in but during the anthem is not the time or place to do so. The NFL is a business and the players are employees, so the NFL should not allow the players to kneel during the anthem.
The boundaries for athletes taking a stand for social issues should not be done during the work place or in a moment where you are disrespecting your flag and what it stands for to some the veterans that gave there lives. I feel they should choose another place and time to do there protesting. What there protesting is fine because its not violent and there doing it peacefully, just not at the right place and time to do it.
Athletes should have some boundaries when it comes to social boundaries because they are role models for some people and are supposed to show leadership. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but when you get paid to "make a difference" or do what you love, you're limited to some things that you can do.
I think that the boundaries athletes should have is anything political on the field. The NFL is for entertainment and even though people do have the right for freedom of speech you can be fired from your job for speaking out.
In the article written by Amir Vera, he discusses the reasons why Colin Kaepernick disrespects the flag and national anthem by kneeling during the anthem. Colin Kaepernick said, according to the article, that he was kneeling until the United States of America fixes the racism and violence towards African Americans. I believe that this article was showing that Colin Kaepernick truly was disrespecting our nation's troops.
The boundary that I think athletes should have respect when taking a stand for social issues by Amir Vera. In the text,Kaepernick protest inspired other players. Their teammates joined. It tells that he is raising up awareness and protesting racial inequality in America.
In my option I do not think athletes should have boundirates because everyone derives freedom of speech and in the article it is stated that Colin Kaepernick lost his job because of this which was not needed everyone has the right to stand for what they believe in
